List: Harry Potter – Archive

1. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone-People say that this movie is dated, especially in the special effects department. I say, that’s complete rubbish. In my humble opinion, it’s the only Harry Potter movies that engulfs us in how magical and spectacular world that these Wizards and Witches live in. Too many people take this movie for granted. There is brilliant child acting and a story that not only has spoken to the entire world but captivates our minds with magical fantasy.

2. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Askaban– After the bright bubbly air of first two movies, the third takes dark and gritty turn. This is how the rest of the Harry Potter films should have been shot. I think we get superb acting from Lupin and Serius Black.

3. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire-This used to be my favorite movie but after re-watching them, it keeps slipping down my list. What I used to think was coming of age interactions, seems now to be simple teen drama. Still, I love this movie because it’s the turning point in the whole series when Voldemort comes back and kills Cedrick. I stand by saying, that when Harry brings Cedric back from the graveyard, it is the best acted scene in all the movies.

4. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2-By far I think that this movie has some of the best action sequences. However, with too many key details missing from the story, I think it fails to live up to the hype.

5. Harry Potter and the chamber of Secrets-This used to be last on my list, but it keeps moving up because keeps showing me how spectacular the worlds of Wizards can be. I also like how much more personality we get out of our three main stars. Also, there is so much detail in this movie, it puts most of the others to shame

6. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1-A Good solid movie. It did it’s job. Maybe a little boring, but it builds the anticipation for the last film. Also, by splitting the book, both of the final movies were supposed to have every detail. This movie did. The last one did not.

7. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince-It’s not that this movie was bad, but it just doesn’t beat out any of the others. It feels kind of long, especially the parts when Draco is using the cabinets.

8. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix– Plain and simple my least favorite. Just thought the battle was anti-climatic.
